“Unemployment is real—But so are opportunities”
If you’re reading this, chances are your situation fits in one of these three categories: 1) You’re side hustling in Uganda, 2) You’re tired of depending on a job that barely covers your financial needs, or 3) You’re looking for ways to turn your current side hustle into something more solid.
The truth is, in Uganda today, jobs are hard to get by. Even those whom you think “Have jobs” keeping those jobs is another hustle of its own. But amidst all that, there’s something that most people fail to realize:
You don’t have to wait for an office job to start earning. You just need one thing—visibility.
And I bet that failure is no doubt the #1 recipe that stifles the idea of side hustling in Uganda. This leads many to start something on the side but half-heartedly knowing the real thing will soon come.
That real thing could be a dream job that someone feels fits his or her education—Like the real reason why they pursued a certain career etc.
For example, you’ve just graduated from campus and could be thinking, what can I do in the mean-time as I look for work. Really?
What if you made what you plan to do the real thing? Won’t you be successful? The issue is mindset.
Generally, we have all been taught to go to school, attain some academic papers and look for a job.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not insinuating that it’s wrong to go to campus and graduate and get a job. Education is crucial to our contribution to society. But, but what about if you get the required academics but won’t find a job? What can you do to change the situation? Side hustling is the answer

Skills are not the problem. Visibility is
You probably are thinking that well, I don’t have the skills to help me start a good side hustle.
Think about this: Do you know how to braid hair, fix TVs, bake cakes, clean homes, do plumbing, tutor kids, or even code out some very nice website using HTML and CSS?
You’ve got something powerful to start side hustling with the potential to earn consistent income. But what do you think is stopping you?
You’re invisible
No one knows you. And for that reason no one can hire you because they can’t find you.
Using word of mouth is great, but it accomplishes just so much. In today’s world, if you’re not online, you’re losing on many opportunity.
